Northern California

Lassen Volcanic National Park

Full of adventure.

A winter visit to the park definitely has it’s challenges if you are not prepared! The park roads are mostly closed due to winter weather and if you plan on hiking, snowshoes are a must. There are lots of opportunities for cross-country skiing and sledding for the kids.

A few of our favorites

Hydrothermal area
My #1 recommendation is seeing the hydrothermal area. We did the 1 mile (one-way) hike with our waterproof hiking boots from the visitor center.

Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant
Due to COVID we only had 2 choices but this was perfect after a long day outdoors hiking in the snow.
