Southwest Texas

Big Bend National Park

Remote and beautiful.

Big Bend in the state of Texas is a hiker’s paradise. More than 150 miles of desert and mountains trails to explore! Santa Elena Canyon Trail was fun and certainly a favorite! Shoes came off and we waded across the Rio Grand to snap a quick pic on the Mexican side of the river – a must do when visiting Big Bend!

A few of our favorites

Boquillas Port of Entry
A great place to cross to Mexico and purchase small souvenirs.

Boquillas Overlook
Purchase Mexican souvenirs via the honor system with the artists across the river watching and communicating with us! A fun experience for the kids since the Boquillas Port of Entry was closed during COVID!

The Chisos Mountains
Window View Trail

Eastside
Panther Junction and Rio Grande Village

Chihuahuan Desert Nature Trail

Westside
Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive and the Santa Elena Canyon Trail
