Acadia National Park

Crown Jewel of the North Atlantic Coast.

Acadia National Park features the natural beauty of the highest rocky headlands along the Atlantic coastline.

Cadillac Mountain Summit Loop Trail was one of our favorites. During COVID, reservations were required to drive to the top. If you want to be there for sunrise, make sure you plan ahead. We were unfortunately turned away at 4:00 am due to a full parking lot!

Fortunately, we were able to head to Bass Harbour Head Light for sunrise!

It’s the perfect location with fantastic photographs. Give yourself plenty of time to climb the rocks and secure your seat before the sun rises.

While Acadia isn’t really known for waterfalls, Hadlock Falls is one of the few majestic waterfalls in Acadia National Park. It’s a great little spot that’s easy to get to and has beautiful, picturesque scenes. Several hikes lead here from the super easy carriage roads to some more technical narrow paths along the brook.

The Great Head Trail at Sand Beach is the perfect morning hike for the family! Featuring easy terrain, rocky shores to explore, seal watching, panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the gorgeous 290 yard long beach.

North Bubble and Conners Nubble was absolutely gorgeous at sunset!

A few of our favorites

Sail Acadia at Southwest Harbour
Friendship Sloop “The Original Lobsterboat.” Went out on a lobster boat in Southwest Harbour at Bald Head Island and watched the fisherman tend to their traps – what an experience!

Charlotte’s Legendary Lobster Pound at Mount Desert Island
Legendary footlong lobster roll is the Greatest Of All Time!

Explore a Maine Harbor
It’s in those quiet little towns, at the edge of the world, that you will find the salt of the earth people who make you feel right at home. A Maine harbor can be a pretty mesmerizing affair – your eye is drawn to the brightly colored lobster traps, buoys and boats.

Dining and Shopping in Bar Harbour
A perfect lunch at Geddys. We had the chance to pick our lobster, weigh it, hold it, name it and then it was cooked to perfection and we ate it! Yum!
